Rockport Rattler Rigging Tips

Here is how to rig soft plastic lures with narrow heads on Rockport
Rattler jigs.  The example I'll use is one of my favorite soft plastics - the
split belly Salt Water Bass Assassin Plum/Chart.

First of all... you'll notice an imperfection - a small dimple or a small
nipple on the head of most soft plastics.
Cut that and the part where it gets real narrow off which is ~ 1/16th -
1/8" off the head of your soft plastic:

Remember most soft plastic lures try to put a life like head on them or
get real narrow because standard jigs are just lead on them and as
such don't look like a bait fish. So with a Rockport Rattler jig the
realistic color and eyes actually give your soft plastic a jig head with
eyes and color, so you don't need the narrow part of your soft plastic
lure, you just need to make your soft plastic is flush with the RR'er jig's
head.

Then stick the point of your hook ~ 1/4 off the top of the SWBA or other
type soft plastic:
Leaving the rest of the soft plastic to fit over the belly of the Rockport
Rattler jigs rattling chamber:
And here's what the finished product looks like with a
Rockport Rattler rigged with a Salt Water Bass Assassin:
